Sauk Weekend

We headed for the lake this weekend on Thursday afternoon. It was going to be a 90 degree weekend. 

We had 2 storm systems come through early Friday morning. One at 11pm on Thursday and the larger one at 2:30/3am Friday morning! There was a ton of lightening, so we had pre-planned to go to the truck and wait it out. We did get to sleep for a bit before the 2nd round came though. Again we went to the truck. This time, tons of lightning, high wind that lifted the truck and shook it, some hail. It knocked down both tents and soaked all inside. Our clothes and half of our air mattress was dry, so after the storm I was able to sleep in the tent. We had to wait till morning to dry all out. We took out everything and scooped out about 40 buckets of water from the large dark out tent. The next day we went to town and there were big huge trees knocked down all in town, boat lifts upside down. Glad we missed the worst of the storm as the park is now closed. Trees fell on the storm shelter/bathrooms and crushed the roof. We were sooo lucky! Should have drove out of the woods during the storm! 

All calm and quiet the rest of the time. Another big storm system missed us and went North, that one killed 3 people and did a whole lot more damage! YIKES!!!

Father's Day 2025

This was the exact car my dad had back in the 70's. My childhood. A green Impala. The heater would make a turkey sound when turned on. 

We all meet up in Hastings for the Car show. Walked around then had some beers at the brewery in town while we sat outside. After we all drove to Prescott and had dinner by the river.

Tree clearing at the lake!

 We went to the lake this weekend with a plan to work on getting rid of more trees and clearing out more of the driveway. We can now completely turn around in a circle and not have to back up the cars. It will be a lot easier getting out with all the vehicles up at the lake. We didn't have to take down too many, mostly just small trees growing low with about 3 larger trees that were tall and skinny. We still have a few more that can be taken down but good enough for now. 

We also cut branches that were over hanging where we put the extra tents when everyone is up for the holidays. 

Only took us 5 hours to clear all, then we mowed the grass one last time on Monday before leaving. 

Since Sunday was super windy 30 mph gusts and cold 50's, we drove south by Sauk to Green Lake to check out that area. We had a brewery in our destination in the town. It was next to the Crow river, so we had a beer there and at another brewery about 15 min south of that. Came back around the lake and looked the largest crow bird in the state.
