Happy 60th Steve!!

Happy 60th Birthday Steve!!

We celebrated both Steve's 60th and Mother's Day on Sunday the 11th. On his birthday, the 8th was on a Thursday so he went out with Tim as his weekly outing for drinks at Jenson's and dinner somewhere.

Don made a Mother's Day cake/Birthday cake for Steve. It was delicious!

Our Trip over the weekend, south 3 hours to Prairie Du China next to the Mississippi River in Iowa.

We had to check out the river boat casino which was exactly like the TV series Ozark. So fun. We each got $5 in free play money and I added another $5 and was able to make that last for an hour on a 25 cent machine.

We camped at Big Yellow River State park. Only $15 per night, not too many camp sites and very large and lots of land behind us. A very nice campsite and quiet! We had a bonfire each night. Heard lots of birds and frogs with some coyotes howling and owls at night.

Pizza from a local pizza place.

Tulips in our yard

I count 14 tulips in our front yard. 2 still haven't opened. All red this year.

These two aren't like the other!

Como Zoo

We did a quick trip to the Como Zoo in hopes to tour the Japanese gardens and finally see the trees in bloom. We quickly found out it was closed due to maintenance. It looked like lots of the flowering trees had died over the winter/years. We instead toured the inside conservatory buildings, but they were very hot, humid/tropical.

Easter 2025

 Happy Easter 2025!!

Logan was home for Easter the first time in 4 years of college. He drove home Friday night and of course had to leave late Sunday afternoon at 3:30 to be back for the last 3 weeks of college classes!

We had 16 in all for Easter brunch. We are learning to let others bring some food to share and contribute.

I gave the kids Easter baskets and did a mini candy egg hunt

I got up at 5am to make quiche, cinnamon and carmel rolls, and waffles. Plus, fixed the table, got out the plates, silverware, napkins and made key lime drinks while Celina made coffee for others.

We had a good selection. Not pictured was the asparagus, ham, sausage and bacon.

All 16 at the table of course, minus me taking the photo.
After I cleaned up loading the dish washer, clearing the table and putting away all the food. Everyone stayed till 1:30pm which was nice.

Then we went to Menards to pick up work supplies for Steve.

Celina purchased a Mario party game for the switch so the 4 of us played that for over an hour. It was fun, but I did awful since I'm not a video game player. You would think I was tired after all that. I did fall asleep only to be woken up by Logan He arrived back in Milwaukee around 9:26 and called to ask me to look for his apartment keys. Ugh!! He finally found them in his backpack thankfully! Sure was alarming at the time! The only other option would be to call maintenance or his roommate, otherwise he would be sleeping in his car for the night or call other friends. They don't rent rooms to under 25.  All worked out, but that of course woke me up and then I couldn't get back to sleep. He will be finished with classes in 3 weeks, then another 10 days and he graduates college!! 4 years really went by quickly! It will be nice to have him back home in one month!!

Last few days of 90+F in October!

Since it got up to 90 both on Saturday and Sunday, then Monday 80*F, I set up our tent in the back yard for a few more days of sleeping outs...
