Valentine's..

 It was a nice day to Celebrate Valentine's Day! Work first, then we went to Northfield! Late lunch of beer and apps. A quick stop for some cupcakes and home! 

I got yellow roses from Don, Celina's BF and she got the red roses from him. 

Steve got me a card and a pretty flowering plant. 

Monday...after the Super Bowl

As a suburban white 50+ woman, the Super Bowl half time performance by Kendrick Lamar went over my head. I know enough to do research on my own to figure out why people were saying it was genius and the best half time performance ever. I'm not into rap, so there was the first hurdle for me. After he won song and record of the year for " not like us", I listened to his music trying to understand it and listen to the words. Again, immediately determined it was not my kind of music and I couldn't understand how he had so many grammy's 22? 

The Super Bowl half time prompted me to know why.. So while doing my research, thanks to tic tok the creators and comments explained the meaning of his words and performance symbolizm and I finally got it. I'm sure there are a lot of hidden messages and symbolism I have yet to decipher from last nights half time, but now at least I have a new appreciation for his music and message. It was very powerful and it was a great performance! I completely changed my mind 1000%. I'm not all that different from others around me that just won't get it and won't bother to. Now to start discussions with others to educate and keep learning.  It's easy to turn off what you don't understand and just tune out what's going on around us. I'm going to tell my older self.... always keep your eyes and mind open.... Don't just dismiss what you don't like at the time or understand, or you'll never grow as a person. 

Super Bowl Sunday.

 I'm rooting for both teams to win, but maybe a little more for the Chiefs. I expect them to lose, but?? 

I finally found a light to replace our Primary bedroom's closet light. It matches the crystals to our bathroom and bedroom fan light perfectly! We replaced the old stock light that came with the house 25 years ago! It even had the old light bulbs, so we updated to LED! Love it!!

It was only $25, which was a good price. I did give in and looked at FB market place. Ugh!! 

I still need to find a few more new/used lights on Market place for our upstairs hall, and laundry room. Not sure exactly what kind of light I'm looking for, but figure I'll know when I see it! 

Here we are Feb 9th and finally got a little more snow! The brown grass is now covered with about 4" of fluffy snow. It's going to stick around due to the super cold temps till the end of the month! about 19 more days! grr... I'm hoping we don't get much more! I already gave up on the idea of cross country skiing this winter. 4" is not enough to ski. 6" or more is the amount needed. Plus, it's going to be in the teens for temp this week. Far too cold! 

Chicken Wild rice soup!

 I wanted to try and make chicken wild rice soup like Byerly's. Failed. It needs more flavor and to be thicker. Not sure how they do it?? I will try to thicken it and add some chicken bouillon cubes for more flavor. See if that will help? 

It was an easy recipe to make in the crock pot. Not sure if I'll make this soup again. Think I'll stick to my Chicken Thai soup instead!
