Sept 29th and 86+F, Afternoon on the River!

It was a hot late September day, reaching 86+F. We all were able to get out on the river in the afternoon. Going boating and taking in the last of the nice hot 80 degree days this week!

Stopped to have wings at Muddy waters in Prescott and then boated up the river to Hudson where we got to use the new dock in town. Had drinks and shared a fish meal for a snack before boating back down the river. A beautiful day!!

Lutsen Fall Colors

We went to the North Shore/:Lutsen this weekend to take in some fall colors of the maple trees. I think last weekend when it rained was prime! There were some maples, but a lot had already dropped their leaves and the other trees have yet to turn golden yellow. We had nice weather mid 60's felt warm with full sun during the day, but got cooler at night down to 48/49. We did some cold weather camping, lining the top of the tent with sleeping bags and tarps. We added foam insulation to our air mattress as a topper with 4 sleeping bags to keep us warm at night. That did the trick and we were toasty warm all night even with out a heater.

We managed to get the last of 3 sites at Lake Clara. Thank goodness! I didn't want to go on a hunt or a camping site at another location 20+ minutes away.

We had a nice fire Friday night.

Taking in some of the fall colors up to the campsite.

we rode all the way to
Grand Marais on our bikes from Cut face Rest stop. No back logging trails since there were too many hunters/ shooting grouse.

And then there were 4! Peanuts and the gang! Snoopy, Linus and Lucy!

We found 3 more baby squirrels yesterday afternoon. I came home from work to hear there were 3 more that came running over to Steve from the next door neighbor's tree.

Good thing I waited till today to bring them to the Animal rehabilitation in Roseville. We named them Peanuts the original and the gang.. other 3, Snoopy, Linus and Lucy! There was one tiny and one really big one with the other 2 normal size.

We filled out a form with all the information on the babies.

We can follow up in a few days to see how they are doing at the squirrel nursery. Guess they have special people that care just for squirrels. They could be released back into our yard too.

Squirrel "Peanut"

We found a baby squirrel under my car yesterday afternoon. Steve thinks he saw another baby being picked up by a hawk and carried away. We at least saved one. Not sure if there were any others?

We have been giving him a tiny bottle of electrolytes as they say no milk due to stomach issues. We think it's a boy.  I've been feeding him about every 5 hours. He doesn't drink much but is active. I'm taking him to the Animal rehabilitation rescue in Roseville today where they can properly care for him.

Sept 16, 90 degrees!

We had a 90 degree Tuesday which meant one more time out on the boat on the St. Croix River. We originally planned to take the jetski which we haven't used all year, but the battery was dead even after charging. We went with plan B and took the boat which made it possible for the kids to join us.

The only two photos I took but I did get some snap videos. The sunset on the drive home.

Getting a fish pedicure in the water.

Lanesboro weekend

It was a really nice 80+ fall weekend in Lanesboro, just the 4 of us.

We went to the brewery and then winery Friday night. Got treated to a fish fry at the winery that was free. We will have to skip pizza in town as it was kind of raw and gross.

Biking 20 miles along the root river. They were sold out of bikes, so the kids had to rent regular bikes.

Kayaking the afternoon on the root river. a 2 hour float and fishing. Steve caught 2 fish!

Camping at Eagles cliff. Great fires both nights and warm nights

Beer in town and prime rib after at the Branding iron. Sooo good!
We also stopped to get caramel apples and a cider slushy.

The town's waterfall. Guess no tent photos by the river. We got the best camp site but it was a walk to the car across the wet grass from all the dew by the rivers edge.

Weekend.. 90's in Oct

We had a very nice weather weekend. A bit windy, but nice and warm! Perfect for being outside as much as possible to soak it all in before ...
