We went to the North Shore/:Lutsen this weekend to take in some fall colors of the maple trees. I think last weekend when it rained was prime! There were some maples, but a lot had already dropped their leaves and the other trees have yet to turn golden yellow. We had nice weather mid 60's felt warm with full sun during the day, but got cooler at night down to 48/49. We did some cold weather camping, lining the top of the tent with sleeping bags and tarps. We added foam insulation to our air mattress as a topper with 4 sleeping bags to keep us warm at night. That did the trick and we were toasty warm all night even with out a heater.
We managed to get the last of 3 sites at Lake Clara. Thank goodness! I didn't want to go on a hunt or a camping site at another location 20+ minutes away.
We had a nice fire Friday night.
Taking in some of the fall colors up to the campsite.
we rode all the way to
Grand Marais on our bikes from Cut face Rest stop. No back logging trails since there were too many hunters/ shooting grouse.
Lutsen with some of the maples
Grand Marais calm waters.
