We are saving a lot on car camping at Hipcamps. This allows us to do more mini trips and use the money we would have spent on a hotel room $150 to $200 per night on entertainment/restaurants/wineries and breweries. Its always more of an adventure staying in a new location and camping. It's part of the adventure that I enjoy the most. This is where we are staying two nights this weekend. We had limited options of places to stay. I prefer to not stay at camp grounds since they are usually crowded, and close together with far too many people watching all the time. Here we will be alone, no other campers. I like that option and it's the same price as a camp ground. At $35 per night.
We will be close to Milwalkee where we can pick up Logan on Sunday. We plan to leave Friday morning, check in at the camp place by 2pm and check out some wineries. There won't be much setting up, more of just seeing the place and then go do stuff. We are just sleeping in the back of our SUV. It's supposed to rain and we also can't bring much with us, since we have all Logan's Dorm to pack up.
Some might think we are cheap by not staying in a hotel. Yes, a little of that too, but I'm in it for the adventure. Plus, who needs to spend $200 a night to just sleep! We won't be hanging out at the hotel and don't need to shower for one day of travel. We always bring water to wash up.
