It's that time we've been waiting for to Spring ahead and lose an hour of sleep..
I didn't get up till 8:30am this morning. Wow, slept in and it was nice and sunny outside.
We went to Porter Creek last night for dinner. We had purchased 3 gift cards $100 each at Christmas time and got $20 to use January to March 31st. Good thing I found them in the cabinet before they expired!! We had $60 to use up! Our meals came to $75 with tax, plus I paid at the bar an additional $14 for two drinks. The food was just okay. Steve's pork chop was dry. My short ribs were more like fatty pot roast with a sauce that had pretty much zero flavor with gummy mashed potatoes that didn't have any flavor. The waiter never brought out bread, which I really didn't need but would have liked. Just disappointing!
This is were we are on the mud room project! It expanded to the wall next to the garage door. I wanted the wood to wrap around the wall and didn't think of that sooner. We had to purchase 3 extra pieces of wood, so another trip to the store to get all the materials needed. Plus, we had to patch the wall, needing to re-paint the entire mud room. We just picked a color and unfortunately, it's a lot darker gray. Whatever, we are going with the new color! The wall I'm doing with wood, will be all white, which will help brighten it up!
It already feels like a different house coming in from the garage with out all that dark stuff and jackets hanging on the wall.
Here's what we took down since I forgot to take a before photo.
The two dark cubbies that I now want in white and 6 ? Maybe???
This mirror with hooks that was supposed to be temporary until we did a real mud room with hooks etc.
This table that had no where else to go. Might have to sell this or bring it in the basement? I got it from a former customer that moved and had no room for this. I always liked this table in her entry. We just don't have anywhere to put this. Guess it's time to sell it.
This is the nook. Finally painted below and now it needs more mud/sand, bottom added trim and painted white and it's done. Not much more todo. I think Steve and add a little mud to this today and get it all sanded. Maybe even cut the trim?? I'll do the painting and then Monday it will be 100% complete!
Here is another little project that need to be completed below the stairs. We need some trim pieces. Steve needs to cut them and I'll do the painting. This also its a big project but little finishing touches that were never done years ago! Can we just finish one thing!! The maple floors with the oak trim are looking kind of rough at the top of the stairs. Getting more scratched up in this one place and sun faded doesn't help either. We have the last of the golden oak on the stairs, which I stained grayish, but left to try and go with the maple wood we have all upstairs. We probably should just get a maple transition piece and then it will all match? Or I need to sand and stain again.
